The Red Carnation Hotel Collection has just added three more awards to its growing tally of internationally-recognised accolades: Diners Club Winelist Awards for each of its three luxury properties.
“In the style of the Emmy’s and the Oscars, the Oyster Box is enjoying an ‘awards season’ of its own,” says Wayne Coetzer, general manager of the Oyster Box. “In the two years since we re-opened, the hotel has unequivocally re-established itself as a hotel of distinction on every level and we are immensely proud of that.”
The Oyster Box’s new Sommelier, Eric Botha, has a notable pedigree, with stints at The Vineyard, Singita Game Reserve and ‘Maze’ at The One&Only, under his belt.
As far as awards and accolades go, The Oyster Box has had a cracking good start to the year, garnering a total of three prestigious local and international hospitality awards, in the first quarter alone. The range of awards covers the full spectrum of the hotel’s luxury offering from accommodation, to cuisine, facilities and The Spa.
The Red Carnation Hotels Collection has announced the appointment of two key staff to their South African sales team. Sally Gray takes up the reins as Sales Manager for the Red Carnation group. Sally will be based at The Oyster Box in Umhlanga, KZN and will be working closely with Nicole Smith who will be responsible for sales for the two sister properties in the group, The Twelve Apostles Hotel and Spa and Bushmans Kloof Wilderness Reserve and Wellness Retreat. Nicole will be based at The Twelve Apostles Hotel in Cape Town.
The Spa at The Oyster Box has announced the appointment of Jackie Avis, as the new Spa Manager. Originally from the Eastern Cape, Jackie has been working in the spa industry for the past 10 years in locations from Egypt to Peru. Most recently she worked as a therapist on luxury ships in the Caribbean and then in the Indian Ocean Islands, where she continued her studies in the field of eastern and western modalities. Jackie was Spa Manager at an exotic spa resort on Kuredu Island in the Maldives for the Duniye Spa Group, as well as Training Manager for the Group, who operate spas in the Maldives and Seychelles.
The 6th, annual Les Nouvelles Esthetiques Spa Awards hosted by Les Nouvelles Esthetiques South Africa, in association with Les Nouvelles Esthetiques Paris, was held in Johannesburg this week. The Spa at The Oyster Box was the winner in the category, Hotel Spa’s for 2010. The Spa also received a special mention for being the only spa ever to receive 100% on both rounds of judging.
