23/12/2009 OYSTER BOX EXECUTIVE CHEF RECOGNISED FOR CULINARY EXCELLENCE
The Oyster Box’s award-winning executive chef, Kevin Joseph, the current chairman of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs in KwaZulu-Natal (KZN), was awarded a Blazon in recognition of an outstanding meal, following the monthly Chaine meeting held at The Oyster Box last week. The Blazon is a prestigious mark of approval awarded to a very select few, an honour for which all professional members strive. Since it is offered only to the finest restaurateurs and hoteliers, the Blazon proclaims excellence in food and service. Membership of the Chaîne des Rôtisseurs in South Africa is by invitation only, and may be extended to both amateur and professional gastronomes. Kevin joined this prestigious organisation four years ago, has served on the Board for the past two and this year was made Chairman of the KZN Branch for 2009/2010.
Joseph has been with the Oyster Box for six years and has accumulated a wealth of experience from The Peninsula Hotel in Cape Town, the Raffles Hotel in Singapore and the Michelin-starred ‘Tamarind’ and ‘Claridges’ Restaurants in London. He has also spent time at the various hotels within the Red Carnation Hotels Collection including the Breezes Resort & Spa in Bali, The Milestone and Summer Lodge Hotels in London, both with AA Rosette award-winning restaurants, and within South Africa’s Red Carnation portfolio, at the international award winning Bushman’s Kloof Wilderness Reserve & Wellness Retreat – recently voted Best Hotel in the World by Travel & Leisure Magazine and the Twelve Apostles in Cape Town, voted No.1 City Hotel and No.1 Hotel Spa, Africa and Middle East.
The society provides many opportunities to meet people who share a common interest in fine dining and good fellowship, both nationally and around the world. Membership can be transferred from city to city, region to region and country to country.
