Our community

Supporting others

The Oyster Box sees itself as an integral part of the broader community in which it does business. As a result, all the hotel’s CSI projects are aimed, not only at improving the quality of the lives of the less fortunate and needy in these communities, but also as assisting recognized charities, wherever possible, to meet the ongoing financial and material demands required to carry out their valuable work.

The Oyster Box has chosen to work closely with Lungisisa Indlela Village as our chosen charity and aims to support it as much as possible.

Lungisisa Indlela Village provides holistic residential care for vulnerable children with their core vision to rescue a child, restore a life, raise a leader, and release a star. They place vulnerable, parentless children into a family environment where they receive unconditional love, spiritual discipleship, care and nurturing. All their physical needs are met.

‘White and soft’ items such as linen, bedding, towels, bath-robes and slippers that can no longer be used in the hotel are donated to identified charity organizations in our local community.

Used books and magazines from rooms and public areas are donated to The LEARN Project, for distribution to under- privileged schools and organisations.

The Red Bucket/ 67 Minutes Campaign was devised by the staff of The Oyster Box as an innovative way for every person to be able to GIVE, whatever they could afford, to someone less fortunate on former president Nelson Mandela’s Birthday.

The Ami Biehl Foundation – All proceeds from the sale of Mrs Bea Tollman’s cookbook, A Life In Food, go to the Amy Biehl Foundation, a non-profit organization based in Cape Town that reaches out to thousands of children in the Townships through After School programs.
