The Oyster Box

We recently welcomed Shelia and her grandson Max to The Oyster Box for afternoon tea and Shelia, was inspired to share her experience with the General Manager, Wayne.

Dear Wayne,

I would love to share with you my wonderful experience at your Hotel. My daughter decided to spoil me for my birthday with a High Tea at the Oyster Box but in a delightful twist was it was on a date with my 7 year old grandson Max, as it was his birthday gift to me. They collected a voucher from the hotel and it was presented to me with this letter.

With much excitement we planned a date that we could go and I was asked by my daughter to be ready to be picked up from my home at 2.00pm, that was when they were calling around to collect me , as she was teaching her son the etiquette of taking a lady on a date. To my absolute delight my grandson had dressed himself so elegantly and polished his shoes till they shone like gems, with NO prompting from his Mum !

Dressing to impress

He had noticed when they purchased the voucher how smartly dressed the staff were and commented to his mother that he knew what he wanted to wear, on enquiring what he was thinking of, he told her “his new denim jeans, his white school shirt and a tie he had worn to a wedding, with his school blazer” and as he was so worried that it wasn’t correct to wear his blazer whilst not in full uniform he insisted his Mum stop and let him pick a beautiful hibiscus to pin on his blazer, adding that Gran would love that! We were dropped off at your lovey hotel and treated with great courtesy by the staff, and enjoyed a delicious high tea, and it happened that the the afternoon we had tea, the hotel was hosting a Halloween dinner, and very kindly the staff allowed us during our tea to walk through the Pearl Room which was stunningly decorated in a Halloween theme, together with the Shipping Room where we encountered two makeshift Halloween graves and a number of young ladies dressed as vampire nurses, as this was totally unexpected and very exciting, my grandson has not stopped talking about your magical hotel.

We then had a delightful wander around the hotel, admiring the art and the beautiful decor, regrettably the reading room was locked but peering through the magnificent glass doors was just as exciting, and on our walk through the Red Bar, my grandson told me he would bring me back when he was old enough and we could have a drink there, he thought it was really nice!

A gift to remember

The wonderful atmosphere, the graciousness of the staff and the excellent tea will forever live with him and you already have a young soul that will be the next generation of Oyster Box clients.
