Which airport is closest to the Oyster Box?
King Shaka International Airport, on the KwaZulu-Natal north coast, is located on the N2, a 20 minute drive away. The smaller, Virginia Airport is situated in Durban North, 6kms south of the Oyster Box just off the M4.

Can you recommend where to go jogging?
The Umhlanga Promenade that runs passed the front of the Oyster Box is a great place to jog and take in the beach and its surroundings.

Is there a fitness centre close by?
There is a gym in the hotel and there are several fitness centres and gyms close to the hotel. Please enquire at the concierge desk for more information.

If I drive to the hotel, where can I park my car?
We have ample secure, open air and underground parking on the hotel property.

What can you do to help simplify my onward journey from the hotel?
Our Concierge team can arrange a transfer to the airport or your destination of choice. Contact us for our rates.

What credit cards are accepted?
All major credit cards are accepted including American Express, Visa, Mastercard and Diners Club.

What is a pre-authorisation of my debit or credit card?
The Oyster Box Hotel requires all guests to provide a valid credit or debit card on check in. The hotel will pre-authorise your card for your full room rate (unless the room rate is paid in advance) plus R1000.00 per night per room for any additional charges / incidentals which you may incur during your stay with us. Payment can still be made in cash on check out for any charges if incurred should you prefer. Click here for more information. 

Where are the nearest shopping centres?
Gateway Theatre of Shopping with its many shops, restaurants and entertainment facilities is located on Umhlanga Ridge, a 10-minute drive from the hotel. In the Umhlanga Village, a five-minute walk from the hotel, we have several dining and shopping options, as well as the newly opened Pearls Mall.

Do you have a Spa?
We have an award-winning Spa on the property, that offers a full range of pampering treatments to relax and restore you in luxury. Please visit our Spa page on the website for our treatment menu and facilities.

What activities are available at The Oyster Box?
Durban is known as Africa’s playground and there are several wonderful activities available to you in our lovely city. From sport, to sightseeing, music to art and culture. The Concierge is always on hand to assist with booking activities for you during your stay.

Do you have a Golf Course?
There is no golf course on the property however Beechwood Country Club, Durban Country Club and Mount Edgecombe Country Club are in close proximity to the hotel.

Who do I advise should I have specific dietary requirements?
Please advise reservations when making your booking on your dietary requests and requirements.

Is the hotel Halaal or Kosher?
Please note that The Oyster Box is neither Halaal nor Kosher approved howevever we can order in Halaal or Kosher meals from a certified supplier at an additional cost.

Do I need to bring a converter plug with me?
Adapters are available in all rooms.

Is there air conditioning?
Air-conditioning is throughout the hotel and in all bedrooms.

How do I connect to the internet?
Free high-speed WI-FI is available throughout the hotel.

Do you have a laundry and dry cleaning service?
Yes.

Do you offer a babysitting service?
Yes! Costs are available on request.

Can I bring my pet with me?
Pets are welcome at the Oyster Box in public areas. Should you wish to book a room, kindly note that our pet friendly rooms are the Superior Garden Villas

What is the hotel's smoking policy?
The Oyster Box is a non-smoking property however The Chukka Bar is available as a designated smoking area.

Who should I advise of my room preferences?
Our Reservations team will be happy to help you with any room preferences from bedding and pillow preference to bed setup etc.
